Private Dog Training & Behavior in Olympia
Training that begins with understanding your dog.
From puppy foundations and leash skills to fear, anxiety, reactivity, aggression, and more complex behavior concerns, private training gives us the time to look closely at what is happening and determine the best way forward. Together, we build useful skills and strategies that support both you and your dog.

Looking at the Whole Picture
Behavior does not happen in isolation. Your dog’s history, environment, relationships, physical and emotional needs, previous learning, and experiences all contribute to how they respond to the world around them.

Private training begins by looking at the whole picture. This helps us understand what may be influencing the behavior you are seeing, identify where your dog needs support, and determine which skills will be most useful for both of you.

For some dogs, that also means working collaboratively with other professionals. When appropriate, I work alongside veterinarians, veterinary behaviorists, and other positive reinforcement trainers so that the different pieces of your dog’s care can support one another.

From there, we can decide what to prioritize and move forward in a way that is realistic for both you and your dog.

What Working Together Looks Like
1. Start With the Whole Dog
We begin with a consultation where you can tell me what has been happening, what you would like to change, and what life with your dog looks like. I’ll spend time getting to know you and your dog, observing where appropriate, and gathering the information we need to decide where to begin.
2. Decide What Comes Next
From there, we decide what to prioritize and how to move forward. That may include teaching new skills, making changes to the environment, management strategies, enrichment, or other approaches depending on what will be most useful.
3. Learn, Adjust & Grow
Training evolves as your dog learns and circumstances change. We’ll evaluate what is working, make adjustments when needed, and help you develop the understanding and skills to make informed decisions moving forward.
